LTC
Underwriting Reminder
When writing Long Term
Care business, it is important to know the following:
Paramed Exams
Agents must request a paramed exam only under these
circumstances:
- Applicants are age 70-84.
- The Unlimited benefit is requested.
If an agent orders a paramed exam on a
prospect who does not meet these requirements the agent requesting the
test will bear the full cost of the exam - the Home Office will NOT
reimburse this unnecessary expense.
Attending
Physicians Statement (APS)
Under no circumstances will an agent ever need to order an
Attending Physicians Statement. If UAs Underwriting
Department deems it necessary to order an APS on a client, they will send
a notice to the Branch telling them one has been ordered. The agent can
help speed the underwriting process by calling the client to alert him
that an APS request has been sent to his doctor and encourage him to call
his doctor to send the completed form back to UA.
Please read Instructions To
Request The LTC Paramed Personal Assessment on the LTC application or
Underwriting Guidelines for Long Term Care for more information.

like to continue recognizing each Branch that participated. At this time,
we thank the men and women of Charleston, SC for sending 1,500 letters and
Springfield, MO-W for sending 220 letters and e-mails. Thanks T.E.A.M.!
